“Hope is a discipline.”
I love this finding from Gallup - that more than anything else, people need a sense of hope from their leaders right now. If you've spent much time with me, you know how aligned this is with my own personal practice and my work with leaders.
As a facilitator and coach, much of my time is spent asking leaders to imagine and then enact something better - for themselves, their teams, and their organizations. This ask is grounded in the idea that hope is not just a fluffy feeling, but an active and intentional practice. As Mariame Kaba says, "Hope is a discipline." Getting up every day and choosing to actively work toward a better future becomes the basis for more meaningful action (not a substitute for it).
As leaders, we have a unique responsibility and opportunity to positively impact the people around us. Even, and perhaps especially, in the midst of uncertainty, change and fear…what are you doing to normalize a practice of hope for yourself and your team?
